Every year the club helps local children have a Merry Christmas with gifts under the tree. This is the signature project where all members get excited and participate. Working with four of their “Terrific Kids” schools, the faculty nominates students that may not have any, or very few, presents to open on Christmas morning. In 2015 the club assisted 14 families and 40 children. With the assistance of local organizations, in 2016 the project exploded to 27 families and 100 children. The club worked with the North End Community Ministry (NECM) and their North (east) Pole to provide toys for families at 10% of the retail value. Meijer provided discounted gift cards for the members to use as a supplement to NECOM and for those families not registered with ACCESS of West Michigan, a Food Pantry Network of Kent County. Making Christmas merry and bright for the children in Grand Rapids, warms the hearts of all the members.
Ringing bells for the Salvation Army at the Big Lots on Plainfield Ave. A cold day but warm hearts.
